What Is A Rank & Rent Website And How To Create One

As great as the fire service is, sometimes we wish the pay would be just a tad bit better right? As unlikely as this may sound, we as people, have the ability to create our own sources of income!

I truly believe that our livelihoods should depend on a single employer. So in this article, and video, I will show you a way that you can create for yourself an income online by ranking and eventually renting out websites either for yourself or clients.

This is known as the”rank and rent” website business model. In simple terms, a “rank and rent” website is a digital property that’s built to rank high in internet search engine results for specific keywords within a niche(area of specialty). Once it achieves a top-ranking position, you can lease or rent the site’s visibility and traffic to local businesses or individuals in that niche.

Now that we’ve clarified the concept, let’s explore the step-by-step process of creating a “rank and rent” website, covering everything from niche selection to SEO optimization.

In this video below, I explain everything that is on this article, if you prefer to watch or listen to this life changing information.

Step 1: Selecting Your Niche

The very first step in the “rank and rent” website journey is niche selection. A niche is a fancy word for “industry specialty”. Kitchen sink replacement would be a niche of kitchen remodel. Kitchen remodel would be a niche of home construction. Does it make sense?

It’s essential to choose a niche that genuinely interests you or aligns with your expertise. Your enthusiasm will fuel your content creation efforts, and will make it easier for you to learn if your are not an expert yet. Additionally, aim for a niche with reasonable demand but not overwhelming competition. Go for happy mediums, not happy accidents like Bob Ross.

Tools like Google Trends, Keyword Planner, and niche research tools can help identify profitable niches.

The best place to start is by downloading my free “100 niche ideas” list here.

Once you have that done, I like to verify interest and actual demand for this in whatever city I want my website to be based in with sites such as Angi.com & Thumbtack.com.

Step 2: Conducting Keyword Research

Keyword research is the backbone of your SEO strategy. You’ll want to identify keywords that are relevant to your chosen niche, have a decent search volume, and face moderate competition.

You don’t want to miss out on the lead generation series I have on Youtube. This series literally covers each of these steps. Using tools like SEMrush, Ahrefs, or Google’s Keyword Planner (Free) and Ubersuggest (Free), will give you an idea of what people are searching for on Google.

Step 3: Picking the Perfect Domain Name

Selecting the right domain name is critical for branding and SEO purposes. Ideally, your domain name should include your primary keyword and be easy to remember. Keep it concise and avoid hyphens or numbers, which can be confusing.

Think about it, If I am looking for a tow truck and I am located in Duluth, MN, I am probably going to search for “Tow truck near me”. So the goal would be to name my site something generic, and specific to the search term like, “Duluth Towing Pros”.

Step 4: You Need Reliable Website Hosting

For your website to thrive, you’ll need dependable hosting. Best way I can describe hosting is like a mall. The mall itself is the internet, while the booth or store location within the mall is the host. The business operating in the store is your website. In the video series, I will go much deeper with these things.

Several options are available, such as Bluehost, SiteGround, and HostGator. Assess factors like server speed, customer support, and scalability when making your choice. A fast-loading site is vital for SEO and user experience.

Step 5: Construct Your Website

Now comes the exciting part — building your website. Although this part can be pretty complicated, especially if it is your first time. I will later on talk about Content management systems like WordPress, but right now, my goal is for you to be familiar with this entire business model.

Step 6: Craft High-Quality Content

Content reigns supreme in the digital realm. Create top-notch, informative, and engaging content based on your researched keywords. Regularly publish blog articles, guides, and other valuable resources related to your niche. Ensure your content is well-structured, includes relevant images, and offers an enjoyable reading experience.

If you suck at writing, or have never written an article, I got you bro. Nowadays with the rise of AI, things like chatGPT make it very easy and give you a very good starting point, where you will be able to continue writing, even if you are inexperienced. I will show you how I use chatGPT to help me start my articles.

Step 7: Optimize for SEO

To climb the search engine ranks and attract organic traffic, optimizing your site for search engines is paramount. SEO is pretty much the google love languageOn-page SEO involves fine-tuning your content, meta tags, headers, and images. Off-page SEO entails building backlinks from authoritative sources. Balancing both aspects is key to enhancing your site’s visibility in search engine results.

Step 8: Monetize Your Website

With your site live and optimized, it’s time to turn it into a money-making asset. In the “rank and rent” model, focus on achieving high rankings for your chosen keywords. Once your site ranks well, offer it for rent to local businesses in your niche. They can tap into your site’s traffic, and you can charge a monthly fee for this valuable service. That’s pretty much the end goal, but we need to crawl before we can walk.

Step 9: Expand Your Portfolio

As your first “rank and rent” website becomes a success, you can consider scaling your business by creating additional sites in different niches. Scaling can substantially boost your passive income potential. Or you can create your own business in that niche, since you now have your very own fountain of leads.

Summary

In summary, a “rank and rent” website is a strategic way to leverage niche selection, keyword research, SEO, and content creation to generate passive income. By following these steps and staying dedicated, you can build a profitable “rank and rent” empire and offer valuable online visibility to local businesses in your chosen niches. Happy website building! And check me out on youtube where you can actually see how I build these out.
